If you have a lot of violets in flower, and even more patience, this is a beautiful jam to make. Make sure you take all of the green bits off the flowers or the colour won’t be perfect

Sweet Violet Jam

A beautiful coloured jam which would make a perfect gift for a mom or granny. A word of warning, 250g of violet flowers is a lot!

Picking the flowers 1 hr


  • 250 g violet flowers Pick all green bits off. You want just the purple petals
  • 600 ml boiling water
  • 750 g sugar
  • ½ cup lemon juice


  • Boil the water, add the sugar and stir until it has dissolved. Add lemon juice and simmer until thickened.
  • Remove from the heat and stir in the flower petals.
  • Pour into small sterilised jars. Seal and label.
