There are lots of recipes for spring tonics and it is a good idea to take one every day, never mind just once in spring. This recipe is full of vitamins and minerals and sure to give you a spring in your step! If you don’t have all of the herbs you can either use dried or substitute with what you have. Spring Tonic
Herbal tonics are combinations of herbs, and can be taken in tincture, syrup, or wine form. Drinking them in a tea is an easy and pleasant way to enjoy them every day. This one is for spring and the herb are all detoxifying - just what you need after Winter. Mother Nature is amazing - the herbs you need for each season are the ones that are thriving at that time. If you don't have one or more of these herbs you can replace them with any others you have growing well at the moment. Parsley, salad leaves, pea shoots and leaves and Nasturtiums are all excellent tonic herbs.
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp Young nettle leaves
- 1 Tbsp Fresh mint
- 1 Tbsp Borage leaves
- 1 Tbsp Raspberry or blackberry leaves
- 1 Tbsp Dandelion leaves
- 1 Tbsp Chickweed leaves
- 2 cups Boiling water
Instructions
- Roughly chop or tear up the leaves and put them into a pot or jug
- Pour the boiling water over and leave for 15 minutes
- Strain and drink throughout the day
